Leveraging everything she had learned while promoting the stories and visions of clients like Deepak Chopra, Dean Ornish and Tony Robbins, in 2006, Vivian founded Just Like My Child Foundation following the birth of her son, Zak.
Motherhood opened Vivian’s eyes to the universal worth of every child. When she learned of the staggering numbers of children dying from malaria and being orphaned by the AIDS epidemic in Africa, she was compelled to channel her skills, passion, and resources into creating change.
For well over a decade, Vivian has orchestrated a multi-continent movement through the non-profit she founded. This fundraising, storytelling, and programmatic initiative has literally saved tens of thousands of lives in Uganda, East Africa and has expanded into India and the US.
Vivian is now a recognized thought leader in global issues facing the health, education, and economic leadership of vulnerable adolescent girls and women. Just Like My Child Foundation has documented success in increasing acceptance of human rights in developing communities and shifting harmful cultural practices that impede girls from continuing their education.
The organization is focused on the Girl Power Project® and committed to empowering vulnerable adolescent girls to stay in school, avoid forced child marriage, pregnancy, and gender-based violence.
Through a Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action and in support of Michelle Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative, JLMC has directly and indirectly reached 20,000 girls in central Uganda. Her recent TED Talk, “How to Transform the World, One Girl at a Time,” has been warmly received in the international development community.
Building on her decades of work with vulnerable girls and families, Vivian has now turned her focus to the challenges closer to home. She is the creator of Project Grit, a multi-platform initiative empowering parents, adolescents and young adults to develop the mental tools, emotional strength, and inner purpose they need to thrive in today's world. As part of this initiative, she is host of The Bad Mom Podcast: Parenting The Anxious Generation, a bold and candid exploration of the pressures parents and children face in today’s fast-paced, hyper-connected, and anxiety-ridden culture.
Through unfiltered conversations with thought leaders, activists, experts, and everyday parents, Vivian is creating a platform for honest dialogue, support, and solutions to help families raise resilient kids while navigating the modern parenting landscape.
Vivian lives in Southern California with her husband, serial entrepreneur and business strategist Mike Koenigs, and their son, Zak. Together, they share a commitment to helping leaders, families, and communities create lasting impact.
